Who is Peter van Gorder?...

In 2004 the Sonoma County landfill became... FULL.

Sebastopol is a conscious community that now "exports" all trash to Novato and other landfills. This is happing in other cites around the world.

One cup is just a start. How else can you reduce your footprint?

A person who drinks 1 coffee at each morning commute will use 2,600 cups in 10 years.

What simple patterns do you repeat every day that have "trash" associated with them?

How can these patterns be improved?

Concept, Editing, Story Board, Production and Directing: Peter van Gorder

About this video:
My main goal was to share a simple idea that could make a huge difference.

I chose humor so it wouldn't be "preachy" and I did it with as little a budget as possible - just lots of friends and community support!

Your turn:
What other simple ideas make great change?
How can you get that idea across without being "preachy" or angry?

Let me know when you do and I'll promote it.

As an auspicious note: on the same day we had scheduled to shoot there was an article in the paper titled "Down in the Dumps over Trash" (you can see it in the upper left had corned of the that I modified shown above) - right then I knew we were doing the right thing: Helping each other to raise our own awareness.
